Irish Grown Flowers…

Our picturesque flower garden and creative studio are located in the heart of the Garden of Ireland in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Under the warmth of the Irish summer sun, we grow annuals and perennials according to sustainable and organic principles. As we work towards our vision of lowering our carbon footprint, we also support the natural ecosystem where hedgehogs, beetles, butterflies, pollinators and other wildlife thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions…

How should I care for my fresh flowers?

When you receive your fresh flower bouquet, it is important you take a little time to care for them. First remove them from their packaging and using secateurs, cut each stem on a slant to the required length. Then, mix the cut flower food (that came in a sachet with your bouquet) with fresh water in a jug or vase. Place your flowers in the water and gently arrange. Remember to change the water regularly and keep your flowers away from direct heat, sunlight and draughts. If your flowers are arranged with a foam core, top up the water daily but be careful not to overfill else the container will overflow.

How long will my flowers last?

On average, most fresh flowers should last for five days. How long they last however will depend on a range of factors, such as the variety of flower, how you care for them and whether they are placed in a draught or near a heat source which can cause them to wilt. Longer lasting flowers include carnations, roses, chrysanthemums, alstroemerias, lilies, freesias, Sea Holly and clematis.

Which flowers are toxic to cats?

Cats like to nibble on fresh flowers and enjoy their scent. However, some flowers are toxic to cats, so if you are a cat owner you should take particular care. In particular, lilies, alstroemeria, hyacinth, tulips and daffodils can make cats very sick, so place them where your cat cannot reach.

Can I visit your Wicklow Flower Farm & Creative Studio?
